For the first time there will be an intermediate level for Traditional Bachata (former Dominican Bachata). The Solo Bachata course will focus more on footwork, but will continue to teach the steps and techniques of Modern and Sensual Bachata as well. Bachata Solo is recommended for everyone who wants to improve faster: male, female, whatever gender, and whatever level.
Also, the Modern and Sensual Bachata will be merged into 1 course this winter semester. The level is intermediate. For Beginners the Traditional Bachata course and/or the Solo course are the perfect options.

Traditional Bachata

In this course, you will learn the basic steps of Bachata and the variations you can use to convert the dance into a unique experience. What is Bachata, and where does it come from? How can you lead and follow? All of this and much more will be taught in this course.
The style we focus on is called "(traditional) Bachata" to distinguish it from other Bachata styles. Bachata is a social dance that thrives on the principle of everyone dancing with each other. Coming from a Caribbean island, Bachata has spread across the world.
You don’t require a partner to sign up. Partner rotation is part of the concept, so there are no fixed dance couples. Additionally, you will become familiar with the principle of role rotation. According to this principle, all students learn both leading and following. You have never done it before? No worries, here you'll learn step by step what smooth leading & following means.
With lots of fun, you'll not only learn new dance steps but also meet many new people. Improve your sense of rhythm and your body coordination in a group of young, international people, who, with fun and openness, are discovering a new hobby that might become your passion, too. Bachata Solo

In this Bachata Solo course, you'll immerse yourself in the rhythmic and sensual world of Bachata. It's suitable for those who aren't drawn to partner dancing, but also for those who want to work intensively on their skills in addition to partner dancing.
Here, you'll learn essential footwork and how to target different parts of your body to move them separately (body isolations). One of the fundamentals of Bachata dancing are the hips, which is why they receive a lot of attention in this course, but, of course, the famous body waves of the Sensual Bachata Style will be on the agenda. The class provides a wide range of content and offers intensive training to improve your coordination, musicality, and creativity, encouraging the exploration of your own style through choreography and exercises. Both technique and the joy of expressing the music play equally important roles. You will learn which styles of Bachata exist and how you can identify them and eventually express them in your dancing.
Whether you're a beginner or an experienced dancer, this course offers a supportive and yet relaxed environment in which everyone who is passionate about dance and Bachata is warmly welcome. Get ready to bring your skills to another level!

Traditional Bachata

(Traditional) Bachata is the passion we share in this course. After having completed the beginners' course this course will offer you more movements and variations. Practicing different patterns, learning challenging basic variations and applying footwork to express more sensitivity of the music and creativity will bring you joy and confidence on the dance floor.
The hip movements will be closely looked at to achieve a natural look while dancing. You're encouraged to find your own style in this course.
This course is not recommended for beginners.
The beginner level of Traditional Bachata /Dominican Bachata should be successfully completed before joining this course.

Modern & Sensual Bachata

Wednesdays, starting on 17th September 2025 – January 2026

Bachata Moderna is, as the name reveals, a more modern version of Bachata, meaning it is younger and was established mainly in the USA, while Traditional Bachata is "the Dominican way" of dancing it. Knowledge and proper execution of basic steps and turns, as well as the fundamental principles of leading and following should be familiar to you if you want to join this course. Here too, we dance in couples and apply the principles of partner rotation and role rotation.
Furthermore, you will dive deeper into the world of Bachata and receive detailed information about the different styles: This includes solidifying the foundational knowledge about the structure and variations in the music, as well as the applied dance interpretation of it, along with expanding your repertoire of movements to make your dance more varied and expressive.
Bachata Sensual, is a modern Bachata style from Spain which includes many movements from Zouk, a Brazilian dance. The flowy and sensual movements fusionend with the Bachata basics will challenge you and open another set of skills for you, which is especially useful dancing to the modern Bachata songs.
